Also I guess you are a kind of parent who wanted their girl on a Grapette team otherwise you wouldn't have taken her to the tryout. To the person mad at the other 16u team coach...Your mad because the coach that those girls have known for so long can't commit him self again this summer because he has to have surgery. Comments: I would like to address the person attacking Cindy Ball and the way she ran her tryout. I'm not going to lower myself to your level but I'm just curious, do you know what her accomplishments are? She was All American player who still holds serveral records at UOP, incase your not familiar that's University of the Pacific!!! How can you scrutinize the way a COLLEGE coach ran her tryout? Do you really think that a COLLEGE level coach needs a piece of paper or a number on someone's back to know who's who? She is an outstanding coach who's primary goal is to develop these girls and prepare them for college scouting!!! She is not someone's dad out there who's only intention is to ensure that his child receives 100% play time at the position he chooses. That's the wonderful thing about her, there is no coach's daughter politics, each player is playing in the position they perfom best at. She is NOT pursuaded by angry parents!!! Her decisions are made in the best interest of the team not one individual player. To prove that, she had one of her power hitters sitting the bench for a complete game in Vegas for reasons other than an injury. She's developing their mental game as well as their physical game. Now I don't want to sound derogatory towards the dad's who are out there coaching teams. There are several fathers that are outstanding, RALPH SANTOS being one of them. As for her "mind was made up" comment let me make things perfectly clear, Cindy did NOT have her "mind made up" before she held her tryout. She told every player on her fall team they were not guaranteed their positions in the spring. Granted she did not have the pitchers/catchers from fall throw/catch during the tryout since she already knew what they're capable of. This only allowed more time to those players she was not familiar with. Sounds pretty fair to me!!! To be coached by Cindy at the young age of 14,15 & 16 is an opportunity that won't come along again until they're in college I'd say having her as a coach is a gift and those who were given the opportunity to be considered by her, Christmas came early for them. In closing I'd like to say it's disappointing to read ALL the negative messages that have been posted in these last few weeks , you all need to be reminded that these people are volunteering their time & we all have the choice to go elsewhere if we're not happy but for you to bad mouth these coaches using a forum that is intended for positive feedback is disgusting. What exactly are you teaching your children? There are more mature ways to address your issues than to publicly harrass them.

Comments: To all of those people who are upset @ Ralph for resighning due to medical reasons, you need a reality check and get a grip. Ralph, wanted nothing more than to stay, but he knew with his upcoming surgery(s)he wouldn't be able to give the girls 100%, and didn't want any less for the girls development. As for the rest of the coaching staff, only they know why they "TURNED DOWN" the job. As for the Organization, when all internal options failed, they hired a coach to keep the "TEAM" together. I know for a fact, EVERY girl was contacted personally by this coach and told, it was his intent to KEEP the team together and fill in the holes that opened do to some players leaving. NOT one player showed up to either try out or even contacted this coach. So, if we do a reality check and come down to brass tax. The girls had the OPPERTUNITY to stay together and stay with the organization. They chose not to. So to blame the Grapes for this situation is absolutely ridiculous. It's amazing that people blame others, when all they have to do is look in the mirror and find all the answers staring them in the face. As for all those girls, I wish you all the luck and happiness in the world. I truly hope you all succeed in life, as well as on the field. You are a special breed.

Comments: The 16 and under team, Santos, that by the way was built by Laura and Sahra Norwood, and has been playing together since 12s, is a one of a kind team. You just don`t see chemisty like that anymore today.These girls have been through so much together, the ups and downs, the sucsess and heartbreak, they have been to battle and in the trenches together so many times and the one thing that has ALLWAYS stayed the same no matter what was giong on behind the scene, is the love these girls have for each other. It`s just not fair that this is happening to them.There coach quit on them and left them in this awful situation.These girls as a team have done so much to help spread the Grapettes name and organization all over the country and they are know all over the nation. That is why I`m so heart broken to watch it being broken up. Yhe ideal situation would be for the Grappettes to bring in another coach for the girls and add another 16 team, But that doesn`t seem to be in the cards for us. The girls have only one maybe two seasons left to play together as a unit and they will all head down different roads.When they look back at this as adults, they sould not have to remember it ending like this, they have worked to hard and to long. They are a one of a kind team that has stuck together through it all, that`s why they should be allowed to stay together. However that happens, lf the Grapettes find a way to make it work, or it means going to another team so be it. But they ALL should stay together. As for the parents we all have said the team has to stay together now matter what.An we ALL know that our girls what nothing else but to stay together, they have said it over and over again. We put ourselves in a situation that would allow the girls to have there wish and stay together, and with false promises made to some, we already have some jumping ship,and one of you was the one who suggeted we all try this, you set it up. The girls talent and the girls play on the feild will get them their scholarships, playing in the right tournaments will get then sene by the right people. They are only 15 they can`t even talk to them yet.Down the road I see how it would be a good thing to have, but that`s down the road. These don`t need it anyway, everyone already knows who they are, their names are already out there the right people already know about them and are just waiting for the time to aproch. I guess all the things said at the party were for nothing. We all should stand by our word and go with the girls wishes. Because in the long run it will be them afected buy this not us. With everything going on in the world today, what`s left if we don`t stand by our word? For some of us that`s all that`s left. We all gave our word, are we going to stand by it or cop out. Do this for the GIRLS not us adults. I promise you the girls will make us not reget it. They have new life again away from all the problems of last season. An I belive they think they have something to prove to everyone,I really belive they are a team of destiny and they can truly be the best in the nation and bring home the trophy, but you can`t complete the puzzle if you don`t have all the pecies. Let`s not take this away from them. They have earned it. They may never get this chance again, and braking them up will almost surely close the book on this one of a kind team. I truly hope this is not the end of thier journey together, but if it is I want all of you girls to know I have never been more proud of a group of girl then I am of you. I have had the true joy of watching you play the game,and watching you all grow from little girls to young women. Thank you for all the memories. We love you.

Comments: To the lady that was upset. Why are you so upset? You should be honored that the coach took such an interest in your childs softball playing. Not many coaches do that? I know these two coaches and in the beginning thought that they were pretty strict, but you know, it made my child grow in the sport. Some coaches take the game seriously because they are trying to get our girls to college. Sometimes direct questions have to be asked. This organization is made up of A-Players and not B-Players. With all due respect, maybe your child should go back to B-ball where the game is considered to be a bit more relaxed. Hey Laura, Sarah, were they talking about you? Anyway....Thanks to you , April is now playing with the 18_under Gold Team and scouts are already inquiring about her..... You got to love the game eh? It never changes does it? Comments: You are the absolute example of the stereotypical parent that we all try to explain to our friends and family that we are not. I agree there is recruiting at all tourneys and its usually because a child is not happy not because there are a few nut job coaches/parents on a recruiting mission .you certainly are the talk of the area .the count is now up to twelve players that you approached. Many of them were as shocked as I was .I happen to be one of the parents your 12u coach tried to recruit and I cant tell you how amazed and just ashamed for our sport. . She approached me introduced herself. A went on to tell me what she can do for my child. And If I thought she was getting the most out of her softball career. (She is twelve and playing on a good team with her friends) if she was truly happy and other such manipulative questions .I have to wonder what the current girls of her team think of this. Are they to be fired or traded of worse yet sent back to the minors? She then proceeded to invite us to tryout for her because she had watched my daughter pitch in a few games and had heard good things about her. Your coach plays on the worst trait of some of our parents that they live through their children's accomplishments and the most impotent thing no matter what the cost is winning. Winning is a wonderful thing but so is loyalty and friendship as well as respect for other coaches and teams. Unfortunately some parents are going to take there kids away from the teams they play for and the friends they have learned with. And try to explain to them that there softball career is in jeopardy and they must change teams to protect it. And the friends they love aren't good enough for them. Nice life lessons your passing on. . Your organization has a wonderful reputation .due in large part from the work of coaches now longer with you. Your 14 and 16 teams are still coached by people of character. But the message the 12u coach is sending is a very bad one for our children and our sport. And your club will eventually pay the price.

They love and care for there players by also teaching them the game of softball. I am a catcher for there team and know that it takes a lot of hard work to keep a position on the team. Comments: I usually do not post responses, but post # 3374, I believe, warrants a response. I realize this person live in world of their own, and blame their lack of ability or short comings on others opposed to looking in the mirror and assigning it wear it truly belongs. I was also at the Halloween tournament. During the tournament three different coaches walked up to our team?s dugout during their game and asked my daughter to try out for their spring teams. Unfortunately for my daughter none of the coaches were from the 12u Grapettes. If you think for a second that at any tournament your team attends there is not some degree of recruiting going on, or your daughter is not trying out for next team, you are very ignorant to the reality of girl?s competitive softball. Finally, the last bit of reality is if you truly ?grow and teach your own players?, and did it better than everybody else, teams would not take your players away.

Comments: Before this gets out of hand please note, we have two 18,16,14 teams ( a 12 and 18 Gold and a Womens A team.We as a board cannot speak for all the coaches. When you run one of North Californias softball programs and are at the top girls like to join , but before this happens we need quality coaches, we feel we have found this in ALL of our coaching staff. As the teams have try-outs we ( at the front gate )told the players which field had which coach and they or their parents made the choice of which team to try-out for. I would like NOT to start the season off with PARENTS and players having problems. Please remember this is for the GIRLS. I wish all the girls could make the team but some will and some will move on to another program. If all else fails all the coaches phone numbers are posted on the front page. Two teams made it to Nationals, And our sponsered Womens B team won a National Championship. we all have a long way to go as this program grows.
